MERBABU TREKKING Climbing Grade

PHYSICAL

Physically, this Merbabu trekking is graded Challenging.Normal actual hiking hours per day indicated in itinerary through actual trekking altitude gain approx 400 m  - 1000 m on ascent per day plus trekking altitude lose approx 1540 m on last day of descent.maximum altitude 3142 m.You carry weigh approx 6 - 10 kilos of you own personal belonging and personal equipment plus supplied mineral water for the day hike.


ROUTE :

Route is significantly non technical,classified Moderate. We walk mostly on well-beaten paths,mostly narrow soil path of tropical mountain forest ecosystem and stony path of sub alpin ecosystem on slope and ridge of western to northern flank of Merbabu.As we get over 2500 m,the route began to get more inclined through little bit more loose rock and solid small boulder along more vegetated sub alpine ecosystem .As we get closer to highest point, we then traverse a rock face leading us to highest summit of this old volcano Merbabu.On crux,use hand on short section of the crux to facilitate safer ascent-descent is required .Route is marked but the crux is not protected.

PREPARATION:

If you have been non active hiking for a year or do active sport in irregular period and in order to enjoy your trekking at Merbabu, it's strongly suggested to prepare your self : walking combined with other active sports : jogging, swimming and/or cycling,plus extra strength and flexibility training
