This is a wide flat land areas with altitude up to 200 m above sea level. This area is result of sedimentation. Low lands of Indonesia are generally Aluvial lowland resulting from sedimentation of rivers and normally face to face with flatter coastal areas possessing shallow ocean, such as low land of north coast of Java Island, east coast of Sumatra, north coast, south and east coasts. Several Indonesia lowland are typically wetland such as In Papua, Kalimantan and Sumatra.

At Sumatra island, the wetland found in East cost of Sumatra such East coast of province Jambi which is well known for it's orchid and palm diversity as well as landed point of world's migrating birds. So this type of wetland area is great trekking or hiking points for bird watching, and other flora and fauna discovery. The areas are normally have more swamps and mangrove plants, so hiking or trekking on such lowland provides
different obstacles such as muddy field track requiring more different method of field adaptations.

Other lowland types in Indonesia are sufficiently steep and narrow coastal areas. They are mostly rocky ones, among beaches connection by coral ridges, hilly slope and some of them formed good bay. Some of them even have no sand but just towering cliff facing directly to the ocean. Such area normally a habitat of more spesific flora fauna as well as high diversity of sea biotic such fish.

At Java Island, Most rocky coasts are mostly sandy beaches surrounding hill, generally karstic hills. While at Sumatera Island, It's low land areas are partly steep down to the coastal area. The coast is more narrow, but offers sandy beaches, and the sea has more stronger waves. Hiking-trekking through rocky coastal area in Java is one of interested thing to do in the area but it still less frequent done by Indonesians. Other activities are sea boating in Java, while at Sumatra is sea kayaking such at coastal area of Bengkulu, Sumatera.

On some areas, there are some exception due to mixing of some different material types of ecosystem : At Java, you may find mixing area of volcanic material and karst. Volcanic material was brought by water through river down to lower land and then accumulated on certain flat spots of coastal sanded beach areas. While from another river, small pieces of limestone  brought by water down to the same area and then they mixed each other and form more spesific ecosystem. The population in the area implanted some specific plants such mangrove which is then formed more typically wetland area. Here water live is more diversity of bio.
