About Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta,also shortened YOGYA and familiarly pronounced JOGJA.It is referred to a Special Region within the Republic Of Indonesia,located in the Southern part of Central Java covering only approx 3.100 square kilometer (2,4% of total area of java).Yogyakarta receives favorable coastal breezed from the South seas,and does not suffer from as the usual high humidity temperatures that most tropical cities do in fact it can be a bit chilly in the evenings and many visitors have found them selves pleasantly surprised by this variation in temperature.

Yogyakarta’s population is around three millions, composed nominally of Javanese descent and mostly Moslem. Yogyakarta also is land of other many ethnic group such as Chines descent whose ancestors came to Central Java as traders hundreds of years ago.

Due to more advanced to education than other islands of Indonesia, Yogyakarta is also city host of many students coming from other parts of Indonesia regions such as  Irian Jaya,Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Flores, Lombok,Bali and Sumatra.The existence of those students makes Yogyakarta as interaction point of many ethnic group of Indonesian.
